2020 the year of opportunity, uncertainty and a time of inward reflection…

After the UK’s decision to create a national lockdown following the
COVID-19 pandemic Michael and Francesca joined forces to create

Melon and Spud Productions. We hope you can follow us on this new journey and enjoy our work just as much as we do!

Michael is a Producer and Assistant Director from London who is best known as ’THE MELON’ of Melon and Spud Productions. His fruitful personality and commitment to the industry has enabled him to develop extensive knowledge and experience working for some of the worlds most established, directors, producers and production companies.

After completing a degree in Film Production and Cinematography at Bournemouth University Michael has gone onto work with top broadcasters such as Disney, Netflix and the BBC. He has gained an integral understanding of the industry servicing feature films, HETV drama, commercials, music videos and fashion shoots. His personal highlight working alongside Steven Spielberg.

His positive, upbeat, ‘nothing phases me’ attitude comes from a key inspirational quote that reminds him that, ‘anything is possible’.

“Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age, and dreams are forever” - Walt Disney

Michael says that, Ultimately, my aspirations come from my inspirations. Combining both his creativity and experience of all aspects of the industry it sets the foundations for every project he embarks on.

Francesca Marago

CEO & Executive Producer

Francesca is a Theatre Creative, Location Manager and Producer from London who is best known as 'THE SPUD' of Melon and Spud Productions. Her warming demeanour and unquestionable passion for everything she does has led to her making huge strides in the industry working across multiple commercials, TV dramas and Features.

Her passion for performance and unique, meaningful storytelling led her to train in Acting at The Oxford School of Drama. Subsequently she studied Drama and Performance at the University of Portsmouth where she graduated with a First Class Honours.

A Play a Day and the creative development of Fatherland in partnership with Limbik Theatre were two projects she had worked on during her time at The New Theatre Royal. Her desire to aid funding, had enabled her to work closely with The Big Give in fundraising for the wider communities within theatre.

She has gone on to produce impactful work that cleverly combines the use of VR technology and Physical theatre that targets pressing issues within society, just one of many projects she has developed. Aside from producing, Francesca has also won awards for her acting roles in 2017's Comic Cons 'Blister’ and ‘Prophecy of Souls’,
